Just for the record (in case it wasn't obvious), I love the idea of Tomes being used for new characters.
This argument was brought up with Heros - it seemed unfair that Heros had access to Elites that some of your characters didn't! After all, we all live on the same "account".
This is a great way to remedy the situation.

Survivor, and the fact that higher level mobs give higher EXP That's my guess at least, unless maybe skill points can be traded in for tomes or something.

That should be like it's own title - Uber Survivor.
Maybe that "extend[ed] character development beyond level 20" mentioned for GWEN in PCGamer has something to do with XP?

A hint to all: Remember to get your new Sunspear Skills (presumably you'll get atleast one) if you are atleast a Sunspear Castellian (8). I'm staying in the Sunspear Great Hall right now, waiting for the update, hehe.

heh i can almost see a new breed of runners coming to Tyria... IF you have to fight your way from ascalon all the way back through the game...in Hard Mode...Droks Run in HM anyone? I think that it would be awesome to have to explore all over again ....in HM only but be able to switch back and forth from one to the other....by loggin in and out..and if say you was in Droks in normal mode....and logged out and back in in HM then it would automatically switch you to the closest town that you have "unlocked" in HM
sorta like what happens when you leave a toon in a guild hall and quit the guild...the next time you log in it takes you to the Temple....
